Bob Cats

Picture
Bobcats are named for their "bobbed" tails and have ears that resemble their feline cousin, the Lynx. They are sometimes called wildcats, are roughly twice as big as the average housecat. They have long legs, large paws, and ears similar to their larger relative, the Canada Lynx. Most bobcats are brown or brownish red with a white underbelly and a short, black-tipped tail. The cat is named for it's tail, which appears to be cut or "bobbed." In some areas, bobcats are still trapped, hunted and killed by poachers for their beautiful soft, spotted fur. North American Bob Cat populations are believed to be large, with about as many as a whole one million Bob Cats in the United States alone!
